We are still at the beginning of the Winter Olympic Games, in Beijing, China, and there are already several cases to highlight; athletes who are giving a lot to talk about.
China is experiencing an important moment these days, hosting the Winter Olympics, but also being the country where the Covid-19 was detected for the first time, which has had the whole world in check for a couple of years.
So far, the Asian country records, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), China had registered 139,891 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 5,700 deaths since January 2020.
Looking at these numbers, and despite the fact that it is the region where the current health emergency originated, China is one of the countries that has had better control of the pandemic and the disease, this, of course, thanks to the strict measures that have been implemented since it all began.
Today, however, it seems that those tights have been torn due to the great sporting event that all eyes are on: the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
In fact, according to the vision of several specialists, the health situation in the Asian country could turn into a small chaos derived from the effects of opening its borders for the Winter Olympics.
A Los Angeles Times report reveals that, as of yesterday, there were at least 32 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Olympic athletes, who, of course, have been placed in isolation.
Thus, in the midst of this context, the Winter Olympics continue their course and everything indicates that they will not stop, unless, of course, something catastrophic happens.
However, what seems to be winning, of course, is sports, since the competition started off on the right foot and in less than a week since they were officially inaugurated, there are already several stories that will undoubtedly be recorded in olympics books
One of those stories occurred last October 3, where the German ice skating couple made up of Katharina Mueller and Tim Dieck showed not only their skill and ability, but also their creativity, to the point that they earned several spotlights for his performance.
And it is that, during their routine, the duo appeared in disguise, Katharina Mueller from “Harley Quinn” and Tim Dieck from “Joker”, characters that, as we know, inhabit the Batman universe.
Both athletes took as a reference the version of suicide squadso his characterization was inspired by Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, respectively.
The result of the test, however, did not surprise the judges, but his characterization was what caught the attention of both various media and Internet users, especially those who say they are Batman fans.
“The German ice-dancing duo dressing up as the Joker and Harley Quinn, and skating to a bluesy remix of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” is proof that the American sphere of cultural influence has reached a new level of kink” , was what a user wrote on Twitter.
Although his performance drew attention for its creativity, even adding the recorded laugh of Jared Leto, the judges did not cause any impact.
