Europe has always been a territory with PlayStation as the main stronghold.
From all life it has been possible to see how the different big markets have focused on one console or another depending on the public and the brand. In that sense, the United States and Canada have always had a great weight in the sales figures of the Xbox, as opposed to the Japanese market, where it practically does not exist in favor of PlayStation or Nintendo.
In the same way, it has always been possible to see that Europe is a territory of PlayStationto the point that it is in this territory where it reaches the highest sales figures and records compared to its two competitors, thus achieving that all the home consoles launched (with the exception of PS3 and, for obvious reasons, PS5) have exceeded 100 million units sold.
Xbox Series S manages to impose itself on PlayStation dominance
However, it seems that something has changed recently since, according to a report published by GamesIndustry, something unusual would have happened recently, since, despite not being the best-selling console every month, since it occupies Nintendo Switch, the truth is what PS5 had always sold more than Xbox Series. Until now.
And it is that this same report, which collects the sales figures of European countries with some other exclusion (United Kingdom and Germany are the most notable) has been able to know that Xbox Series has outsold PS5the main reason for this being the high availability of Xbox Series S.
In this way, Sony would lose a hegemony that it had maintained in the Old Continent for practically its entire history, since, except in the first years of the 7th generation of Xbox 360 and PS3, PlayStation consoles always prevailed over their rival more directly, this being something much more disputed in American territory.
However, it seems that lack of stock due to the shortage of semiconductors necessary for the manufacture and production of the consoles, as well as the greater ease of producing an Xbox Series S Along with the great appeal of the brand thanks to Xbox Game Pass, it seems that they have made a dent in the European public.
Therefore, we will have to wait to see if Sony ends up regaining its position, although this will have to be long term, since the component crisis is joined by the invasion of Ukrainethis being an international conflict that has slowed down and made much of our areas, both leisure and professional, more expensive.
