Such is the impact of the poultry industry within the national territory, that this is one of the most dynamic livestock activities in the country, and one of the sectors with the most impact within the diet of Mexicans, since it is estimated that at the beginning of the last year, this sector recorded a contribution to the national GDP of just over 36.8 percent.
Figure that places Mexico as one of the countries where the egg has a great impact because, although in terms of production, China is the country that produces the most this food, with 38 percent of world production, followed by the United States with 7 percent and India with 7 percent. Mexico is the fourth largest egg producer in the world with more than 2.77 million tons per year!
Similarly, it should be noted that Mexico is one of the largest egg consumers in the world, It is estimated that in order to satisfy the internal demand for poultry goods, it annually acquires a volume of more than 31 thousand tons from the foreign market, since it is estimated that Mexico is the first place in per capita consumption of fresh eggs worldwide, it should also be noted that in the last 11 years, 8 out of every 10 tons of eggs for dishes were generated in Jalisco, Puebla, Sonora and Nuevo León, these being the states with the greatest presence in this sector.
Supermarkets are recognized for the best egg prices, according to Profeco
In the last few hours, the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (prophecy) released a list of stores and supermarkets belonging to the Mexico City and Metropolitan Areawhich have been recognized for offering the best price eggs.
It should be noted that the prices recorded as of last Thursday, February 23, are used to generate the following table, in addition to noting that the average price of 18 pieces of egg has a cost of 53.28 pesos for the white and 58.78 pesos for red, while a kilo of egg, which has an average of 16 pieces, is around 52.25 pesos, for red and 47.36 for white.
