successionagain, with shadow intrigues
The beginning of the last season of succession, which follows the same lines, is so ambiguous as to be suspect. It all starts at the birthday party of Logan Roy in his luxurious house on the Upper East Side. But beyond the presence of Connor (Alan Ruck), Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Greg (Nicholas Braun), there is nothing intimate about the meeting. In fact, the family patriarch spends much of his time complaining to the assembled group, which includes company members and acquaintances. The supposed ideal occasion to relax tensions is actually a hard and unpleasant moment.

This sensation is contributed to by the absence of Marcia (Hiam Abbass), who virtually escaped to Milan shopping, to the annoyance of the head of the family. The lack of his children, disinherited after the end of the third season, is also notorious.
A mixture of elements that summarizes the enmity of all those who surround the head of the family. Roy he is completely alone. At least subtly isolated between his confidants and Kerry (Zoe Winters).
The last installment of succession build this situation to deal with the uprooting of his main character and emphasize that Roy he no longer trusts anyone. He’s also not sure that purchased loyalties can be of use to him. A conviction that adds to the frequent accusations that the script has dropped on his health.

succession seems to raise in its final minutes the possibility that Roy become a victim of his intrigues. The patriarch himself suspects it. At the slightest opportunity, he flees from the celebration in his honor with collin (Scott Nicholson), his security guard. It is then, with a cup of coffee in his hands and full of obvious bitterness, that he admits to his employee that he has no one else to trust. Even more so, now that he finds himself in the midst of isolation that makes him fear for his health, life and future.
Indications of a possible tragic end
Roy Logan spends a good part of the first chapter of the last season of succession meditating on his mortality. With eighty years of age, the family head will have to fight with more than his greedy heirs. He will also do so against the certainty that all his relationships are broken or marked by disappointment and bitterness.
The episode ends with a renewed war of interests, but the message is clear. Roy has announced that, perhaps, his death is closer than ever. Which seems to confirm several theories. The big question is whether the possible death will be a natural event or a darker circumstance. A narrative twist that is impossible to rule out in the bloody family battle of succession.
