Global sales of eCommerce from 5.2 trillion dollars in 2021 to more than 8 trillion in 2026.
In Mexico, sales on-line either eCommerce represented figures above 401.3 billion pesos.
As every year, Brand Finance presents its report in which it reveals which are the most valuable brands in the world, ranking which, this year, has surprised by including TikTok as one of the 10 most relevant brands.
2020, the year of the pandemic, meant a change of mind worldwide, completely changing the consumption habits that, until before the health emergency, prevailed among consumers all over the world.
As is well known, electronic commerce, or eCommercehad a truly significant growth and, even, it is expected that, in the coming years, it will continue to be a pillar among consumers.
Only in 2021, according to a report from the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO), sales on-line either eCommerce represented figures above 401.3 billion pesos, with a growth of 27 percent compared to 2020.
Secondly, global sales attributed to the eCommerce from 5.2 trillion dollars in 2021 to more than 8 trillion in 2026a fact that makes it clear that digitization will continue to rise, as long as access to the Internet and the different mobile devices also maintain a forward-looking behavior.
In the same way, much of what the increase in online sales highlighted is related to the importance that social networks have gained, which, finally, had to adapt to a new reality in which, now, consumers search on their platforms.
Starting from this premise, it has become clear that, since the start of the pandemic, TikTok became that window, in addition to entertainment, for brand positioning in order to reach a new wave of consumers much more attached to digital platforms.
Study reveals which are the most valuable brands in the world
That being said, and taking up the most recent Brand Finance studyin it ranking Of the 10 most valuable brands in the world, TikTok appears in position number 10, being the only social network that appears in said count and the second Chinese brand on the list.
As of today, it is known that the social network developed by ByteDance has 1.7 billion users globally, in addition to which, in 2021, it became the most searched website in the world, surpassing giants like Google , Amazon, Facebook, among others.
Now, by 2023, Amazon is, according to what was published by Brand Finance, the most valuable brand in the world, while the Mexican Corona Extra appears up to position number 303.
Undoubtedly, the pandemic has been the main factor in the loss registered by these brands and, as the Brand Finance report points out, experts affirm that “the economic impact of Covid-19 in Latin America will be considerable, mainly due to the fall in exports, capital flight, the collapse of tourism, the collapse of remittances and the economic contraction and unemployment caused by the restrictions imposed to control the pandemic”.
