A job application for $ 173,000? Yes but not just any, it is precisely that of Steve Jobs, the former boss of Apple who was looking for a job in 1973. An auction will take place at the end at least.
A job application worth thousands of dollars
If you’re an Apple fan, surely you know the legendary Steve Jobs, who left far too early. Recognized for his visionary quality and his taste for creation, he still knew the job search box like everyone else when he started out on the job market. Here is a handwritten request (and yes at the time we did not send his CV by email) written by Steve Jobs in person in 1973.
There is no mention of the position sought or the name of the company to which he applied but in the skills category, we can see the term “IT”, which logically sticks to the person. This piece of paper is obviously worth gold because according to the latest information on the subject, an auction will take place on February 24 for more than four hours. The “handwritten application” will be launched at a price of $ 173,000 with, of course, the accompanying certificate of authenticity.
Here is the description of the job application:
A single signed application page dating from 1973 is put up for auction.
In the questionnaire, Steve Jobs highlights his experience with “computers and calculators” and special abilities in “electronic technology or digital design engineer”.
It is believed that the questionnaire was completed around the time he dropped out of Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
A year later, he joined Atari as a technician where he worked with Steve Wozniak before founding Apple in 1976.
The application is in very good condition with some creases, slight stains and old transparent tape to the top edge. It is accompanied by letters and certificates of authenticity.
Previously, it was auctioned off in 2018 for over $ 175,000.
