Princess Leia joins Mace Windu like a Jedi who has a purple lightsaber in an amazing cosplay of Star Warsviralized on the Internet and social networks.
While Samuel L. Jackson’s Star Wars character isn’t the only Jedi with a purple lightsaber, it’s hard not to associate the purple blade with Windu. and as he remembers screen rantIn Disney’s Star Wars canon, Leia had a blue lightsaber, as revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Now the cosplayer Just Steph (@dark_sidecosplay) imagine a Jedi Leia wielding a purple lightsaber, pairing the character’s hairstyle from A New Hope with a gray version of Leia’s signature senatorial gown.
The cosplayer describes this version of Leia as “Dark Leia,” which raises the question of what the Star Wars galaxy would have been like if Leia had fallen to the Dark Side. It’s hard to imagine a Sith Leia Organa, but a morally gray Jedi Leia could have been very interesting.
Leia was a Jedi?
Return of the Jedi’s “Leia is Luke’s Sister” twist was one of many last-minute additions and major reimaginings made during the original Star Wars trilogy.
While Yoda did mention “someone else” who could defeat Darth Vader and the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back, that line wasn’t supposed to be about Leia, but from all of it came the importance of the character.
Disney’s Star Wars canon returned to show Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, bringing back Carrie Fisher as the now General Organa. The Rise of Skywalker, which was filmed after Fisher’s passing, had a brief but significant flashback sequence showing Leia’s lightsaber training with Luke.
Leia turned down Luke’s offer to become a Jedi, something Star Wars shouldn’t necessarily pick up on. That said, just like Ahsoka isn’t technically a Jedi, Leia may have had a few Jedi-like adventures between Return of the Jedi and the sequel trilogy, similar to what she envisions in this cosplay.
