Square Enix seems to lend credence to the latest Tomb Raider leaks.
Just a few days ago, what would be the first details of the next installment of the Tomb Raider saga, which would be in development at Crystal Dynamics with the code name of Project Jawbreaker. Although it has not been officially confirmed, Square Enix has confirmed this information by request the withdrawal of the podcast for copyright.
Square Enix sold both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal and its associated sagas (Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain) to Embracer Group, but until this move is finally made effective, the Japanese company remains responsible for its rights, and it seems that this leak has not liked it too much.
“They made Patreon DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to be asked to remove the offending audio of us talking about the new Tomb Raider game,” said Colin Moriarty, head of the Sacred Symbols podcast where the leak was released (via VGC). “I was acting on the notion that this is fair use, this is in the general interest, this is in the great general interest, I didn’t break into Crystal Dynamics to steal it.”.
“We’re not going to delete it all unless we are forced to do so, ”says Colin, although this could lead to legal problems.
New Tomb Raider, darker and more mature
For its part, the leak itself ensured that this new installment of the Tomb Raider series, codenamed JawBreaker, will take place in a world hit by a great cataclysm and again will star Lara Croft. Although it is about a more mature and experienced version of Lara, which inspires more people. The general tone of the adventure would be darker than what we saw in the previous trilogy, although at the moment there are not many specific details.
