One of the most anticipated games for the owners of a Switch in this 2022 it is undoubtedly Splatoon 3, a title that will give continuity to one of the most “new” and beloved franchises for the community devoted to the Japanese firm.
Officially with the release of its release schedule, we discovered that this September 9, 2022 the game will be released for the console and we couldn’t be more eager to find out whether or not it will be the perfect closure of the trilogy.
The Switch at this point remains positioned as the most popular console of its generation, being an attractive and practical alternative for those who want to be able to take the fun everywhere.
But to be honest, its catalog of games has not been exactly constant and since its arrival on the market it has permanently depended on the great releases promoted by Nintendo itself.
Nintendo surprises with the Splatoon 3 Direct: these are the announcements
Through its official channels Youtube The Japanese company has made a surprise Nintendo Direct to present us with all the details about Splatoon 3.
In broad strokes we discover a lot of new weapons, stages, battle techniques, fashion accessories and even a tabletop collectible card game, which will bring life and content to the game for the next two years. Here are the general details:
Splatoon 3 remains a competitive multiplayer game and adds new hotspots: Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Mincemeat Metalworks, and Undertow Spillway.
At the same time, we will have some classic scenes from previous deliveries such as the Museo d’Alfonsino, Hammerhead Bridge and the Mahi-Mahi Resort.
The promise is that by launch day there will be a total of 12 stages available and more will be added for free over time.
First of all, all of the previous weapon types from previous Splatoon games will return for Splatoon 3 along with at least two new additions:
The bow-shaped Tri-Stinger that can be charged for a more powerful shot, and the Splatana Wiper, a heavily Halo-inspired sword shaped like a windshield wiper that slashes and shoots waves of ink.
Added to these are special weapons like the Tacticooler, a cooler filled with stat-boosting drinks, the Wave Breaker, a sonic emitter that deals damage, and the Reefslider, a shark-shaped float that explodes and splatters ink everywhere.
Added to this is the return of some classics such as the Tenta Missiles, Inkjet, Ink Storm, Ultra Stamp and Booyah Bombs from previous games.
Salmon Run and Splatfest return:
Splatoon 3 will have the Horde Mode from Salmon Run back. This gameplay allows four players to team up to collect Power Eggs from enemies called Salmonids. For this new installment the game will be much bigger and will be available at any time.
In the same way, the multiplayer event of Splatfest will be back under the hand of Frye, Shiver and Big Man, under a dynamic of three teams and three themes. The first Splatoon 3 Splatfest will pit Team Rock, Team Paper, and Team Scissors against each other on August 27.
Inklings and Octolings will have many new styles to wear in Splatoon 3. Shops will make more casual hats, masks, glasses, tops, t-shirts, jackets, shoes, sneakers, sandals, and slides available to players.
Each item would have specific advantages beyond the aesthetic factor and there will be specialized stores for each type of item. In the same way, victory gestures can be customized just like the Splashtag.
Players can now try out all weapons on the testing ground, or engage in a battle with (or against) a friend using their hologram.
In the lobby it will still be possible to watch battle replays, customize personal lockers, and browse your friends’ lockers.
What is Tablet Turf?
But perhaps the biggest surprise was the announcement of Tableturf, a card-based battle game that can be played in the Splatoon 3 lobby. There are 150 cards to collect, and players will be able to build their deck to battle against others.
And to top it all off, Nintendo promised at least two years of post-launch support for Splatoon 3, with new gear, new weapons, new maps, and more.
