The Madrid City Council presented last Tuesday, January 24, ‘Air Tech’, a pilot project developed by the startups Bye Radon and Armilis, whose function is to measure air quality in homes and detect the presence of radon gas indoors.
According to Angél Niño, councilor delegate of the Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council- Spain, the technological advances that arise in the measurement of air quality are “outstanding” and explained that in addition to using blockchain technology from Amarilis, this new prototype works with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms “to be able to correlate the data obtained with other environmental and polluting parameters”.
In this sense, the councilor took the opportunity to highlight public-private collaboration and also to mention that entrepreneurial ideas with the Madrid seal increasingly aspire to “further expansion and consolidation in the international market”.
Finally, it is worth noting the mention made by the creators of Air tech to the radon gas, which in addition to being one of the factors that inspired the development of the Bye Radon project, also turns out to be a carcinogenic element that is produced due to the radioactive decay of uranium, which is naturally present in many soils and rocks and which sometimes accumulates inside buildings and because it is colourless, odorless and tasteless causes around 90,000 deaths per year worldwide.
