A Spanish councilor from the Ciudadanos political party, Ángel Hoyos, registered a motion with the Andratx Municipality, with which he proposes the organization of courses, workshops and / or informative talks on blockchain and cryptocurrencies, as well as on cybercrime related to the same, to “promote a safe use of these digital assets.”
According to the Spanish councilor, these types of tools have come to stay, and he also considers that public administrations should approach and put their use at the service of the citizenry in a security context that allows preventing cybercrime linked to this type of operations.
“Technological advances in recent years and their globalization have favored the emergence of virtual cryptocurrencies, whose anonymity capacity has led to cybercrime linked to them. The answer to avoid this dark side has been the implementation of the ‘blockchain’, or chain of blocks, which allows the parties participating in a cryptocurrency operation to verify each other, providing security to these transactions, ”Hoyos said.
Likewise, the councilor also expressed that the objective of the motion, which is planned to be presented at the next municipal plenary session, is: “To place Andratx at the forefront of knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, as well as in the prevention of related criminal behavior to all this, so that whoever wants to make use of these technologies knows well how to use them in the best safety conditions ”.
