Last week we received the great news that Sony would have a digital event this Thursday, June 4 to present the PlayStation 5 games.
But on June 1, the band announced through its social networks that this event will no longer take place, and although it did not explain the reasons, it is evident that it is part of the protests that at this moment have in check the government of United States.
Let’s go by parts.
Before communicating the cancellation, Sony tweeted an online message with #BlackLivesMatter, the cause that sets the finger on racist behavior in the United States.
“We denounce systemic racism and violence against the black community. We will continue to work towards a future that is marked by empathy and inclusion, and we are alongside our creators, players, employees, families and black friends. #BlackLivesMatter ”, read in that first message.

Four hours later, PlayStation tweeted that it decided to cancel the June 4 event because it’s time for bigger voices to be heard.
“We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4. We understand that gamers around the world are excited to see PS5 games, but we feel that this is not the right time to be celebrating and for now we want to unite and allow more important voices to be heard, ” read the last tweet.

Recall that the United States is currently engulfed in a climate of protest after a white police officer named Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd, a black man who was charged with a misdemeanor, on May 25.
Chauvin subdued Floyd by placing his knee around his neck while he was on the ground, and did not withdraw it even though the second said he was unable to breathe until he eventually lost consciousness and life.
