While Sony’s main service is PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now is not negligible, the platform by which we can play streaming. Hundreds of games from the Japanese company are available under a monthly subscription, which now limits how you can get it.
As reported by Venture Beat, Sony has begun the withdrawal of PS Now cards off the shelves of retail stores. The company has sent a message to franchises like Game, urging January 19 as the deadline for this measure to be effective, at least in the UK.
Although the measure at first seemed to affect only the European country, a message from Sony itself in the middle clears the doubts:
“Globally, we are retiring PlayStation Now gift cards to focus on our current PlayStation gift cards with cash, which can be redeemed for PlayStation Now.”
To further add what was indicated by Sony, the journalist Jason Schreier has indicated This objective has already been carried out in stores in the United States and Canada for weeks. The truth is that this movement does nothing more than focus the gaze on Spartacus, the Game Pass-style platform that would bring together Sony services.
It is scheduled to launch in 2022, as reported at the time. On the other hand, in the middle of last year a class action lawsuit was filed against Sony for restricting the sale of digital codes for the PlayStation Store.
