In 2012, while everyone was interested in the Wii U, Nintendo decided to launch the Wii Mini. This console only cost $ 99 dollars, and to reach this price, some functions of the original hardware, such as internet connectivity and the use of SD memory, were eliminated. This meant that it was almost impossible to hack the console.. However, a dedicated fan has shown that this is already a possibility.
Recently, the youtuber known as Modern Vintage Gamer, published a video where he shows us step by step, how to solve the lack of internet and SD port on the Wii Mini, something that allows you to hack into the console using a homebrew.
Modern Vintage Gamer’s work became a reality, thanks to the discovery of the BlueBomb exploit in 2019, which takes advantage of a flaw in the Wii Mini’s Bluetooth libraries. While the idea of hacking a Wii in the middle of 2021 doesn’t sound like a novelty, yes it is an achievement that a console previously considered impossible to break, manage to be at the mercy of the public.
On related issues, Nintendo has slowed the development of Metroid Prime 2D, a game developed by fans. Similarly, someone has created an N64 capable of running Switch games.
