And a few days ago it announced that it will be available to all its fiber customers. For its part, Movistar has so far offered its Smart Wi-Fi 6 Booster to meet the demand for wireless networks compatible with this standard. But in October 2021, he began testing his new router through a trial program.
The highlights of this new router
Known in code as xHGU and whose official name is Smart Wi-Fi 6 Router, this wireless router stands out both on the outside and inside, although the change in design maintains its rectangular appearance. Specifically, measure 22 x 19 x 4 centimeters. And unlike the previous model, Movistar recommends place it vertically to make the most of its built-in antennas.
Its main asset is the integration of the WiFi 6 wireless standard. In the words of Movistar, this translates into “maximum speed up to 3.5 times higher and coverage of 25% more”. For the latter, the new router incorporates 9 internal antennas. 5 of them for 5 GHz WiFi and 4 antennas for 2.4 GHz WiFi. The person in charge of the router is the manufacturer MitraStar, in charge of previous models such as the current one, which integrates ONT, router and WiFi access. Specifically, this new model is the MitraStar GPT-2841GX4X5.
For those who are worried about their electricity bill, the Smart WiFi 6 Router has reduced the size, number and power of its informative LED lights. Those that indicate that everything is going well, that there is internet access and/or if there is a call in progress. Furthermore, the device consume less energy thanks to the optimization of it thanks to the benefits of the WiFi 6 protocol.

When will it be available?
