Skoda has introduced important innovations in the Enyaq iV range. Some improvements that also affect the recently presented Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV. Skoda’s 100% electric SUVs now boast a greater autonomy thanks to a software update.
The launch of the new Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV is not the only novelty that Skoda has been working on for the Enyaq iV model family. The Czech manufacturer has developed a major software update that allows a whole series of improvements to be introduced. Some improvements related, among other things, to loading times and, above all, to autonomy.
Skoda has taken advantage of the launch of the new Enyaq Coupé iV to optimize the vehicle’s software. The new version of ME3 software includes comprehensive updates to the function, control and design of the infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and Head-Up Display. Let’s go into detail and review all the news that this update brings.
The new “battery care” mode
The new ME3 software allows the driver to activate the new “Battery Care” mode through an option on the center screen. This means that the battery will only be charged to a maximum of 80% the next time it is connected to the mains. The program also reduces the DC charging rate and maximum charging power to prevent power spikes. In addition, the charge and autonomy graph now includes information about the destination and the necessary charging stops.
Changes in the digital instrument cluster and Head-Up Display
The update also affects the Skoda Digital Cockpit digital instrument cluster and to Head Up Display. The information displayed by both components has been improved and now the battery charge level is shown in percentage.
Driving assistance systems and a new driving mode
On the other hand, and no less important, special mention must be made of the new driving mode
that release the all-wheel drive versions. The new “Traction” mode It has been designed for driving on unpaved roads or slippery surfaces. It provides constant all-wheel drive as long as the speed does not exceed 20 km/h.
Regarding the driving assistance systems there are also novelties. To facilitate parking maneuvers, the brightness and contrast of the rear view camera screen have been increased. Additionally, the Travell Assist control button on the right spoke of the multifunction steering wheel now responds to repeated presses and is used to switch between two levels of the assistance system.
Skoda improves the autonomy of the Enyaq iV range
As it is a totally electric model, any type of update that allows have a few extra kilometers of autonomy It is something always well received. Skoda has perfected thermal management, which means, ultimately, greater autonomy. Battery temperature control now activates at lower temperatures than before and continuously adjusts.
The new operation of the thermal management system is key to bringing the battery to the ideal temperature range in a shorter period of time. In addition to ensuring a longer life for the battery, it also allows you to gain a few additional kilometers. The new Enyaq Coupé iV 60 increases its autonomy to 416 km according to the WLTP cycle. For its part, the Enyaq Coupé iV 80 can travel up to 544 km, while the Enyaq Coupé iV 80X can cover up to 520 km on a single charge.

Shorter charging times
The loading times of the Enyaq iV models will vary depending on the power outlet used and the charger used. Using AC power and a CCS plug, power flows to the battery up to 11 kW, allowing the 62 kWh battery to be recharged from 10 to 80% in about 6.25 hours. The 82 kWh battery increases that time to approximately 7.5 hours.
When recharging the battery with direct current, the 62 kWh battery versions now have up to 120 kW charging power thanks to new software. A power that rises to 135 kW for models with 82 kWh battery. This means that at a 50 kW public charging point, the recharging process takes 55 minutes (62 kWh battery) and 70 minutes (82 kWh battery) to complete the process from 10 to 80% respectively. At a fast charging station, the Enyaq iV 60 with a power of 120 kW and the Enyaq iV 80X with 135 kW can complete the aforementioned recharging process in just 35 minutes.
Skoda already applies the ME3 software update in the Enyaq iV range
All copies of the new Enyaq Coupé, whose production began this month of February, already have this update applied. Skoda is also installing it on all new Enyaq iVs. The units already delivered will be able to receive this update in the second half of 2022 after passing through the dealers. The owners will soon receive the relevant information. It is a totally free update.
