The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) put the stretch into operation La Florida-La Cruz de Huanacaxtle junction, of 30.8 kilometers, of the new La Varas-Puerto Vallarta Highwaywhich will allow travelers to save up to 40 minutes on their journey.
In this sense, an investment of 4 thousand 900 million pesos was made to benefit 9 communities, according to the SICT statement.
That being said, two sections of the highway, totaling 54.4 kilometers, are in operation, allowing users a reduction of 55 minutes in their journey.
In addition, a third section is under construction. In total, 10 thousand 601 million pesos will be invested in the work and it will have a length of 86.5 kilometers for the benefit of 17 communities.
Once the highway works are finished, it will have 45 bridges, 7 junctions, 3 tunnels and 3 viaducts through which 6,000 vehicles will circulate daily, with a saving time on its journey of between 60 and 80 minutes; The jobs will generate 1,500 direct jobs and 4,000 indirect ones.
On the other hand, the highway will have some advantages for travelers, since it will be an access to different points of the growing tourist corridor of the Riviera Nayarit; Through the Guadalajara-Tepic highway, it will connect these cities with the tourist area of the Riviera de Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, so it will be the fastest route between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, apart from giving direct access to the airport.
With this, the tourist potential of the Riviera Nayarit will be expanded and developed with safer transportation conditions for all users. Likewise, it will connect two international airports: Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Tepic, Nayarit, the SICT said in its statement.
On the other hand, they presume that it will strengthen connectivity with the Bajío, Guadalajara, Tepic, Las Islas Marías and Puerto Vallarta, it will reduce the travel time from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta from 4 hours and 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes, as well as the journey from Tepic to Puerto Vallarta from 3 hours and 20 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes.
In December 2022, the 23.6-kilometer Capomo-La Florida route came into operation, which connects Las Varas with Junction 692, an area of important tourist destinations, with the Florida Junction, which enables the 2,700 vehicles that circulate a reduction of 15 minutes; 5 communities are benefited”,
stated the SICT.
There is currently a third section under construction, 32.2 kilometers long, which will reduce the transfer time by 25 minutes, which will connect the Entronque San Vicente directly with the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Additionally, three communities will benefit from the new road.
