The official Twitter account of Shadow warrior has issued a comical statement on Shadow Warrior 3 in response to Techland’s recent controversial claim that Dying Light 2 would take about 500 hours to complete. Developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital announced the third installment in the 2020 Shadow Warrior reboot series with a brutal new look at the title’s fast-paced new world of action. The title will feature the return of Lo Wang with similar gameplay characteristics to those of DOOM Eternal, who will dominate players with a new arsenal, including first-person executions of enemies and an improved movement system for greater fluidity and action during the battles.
In a controversial tweet, Techland revealed that the next sequel to its post-apocalyptic sandbox Dying Light 2 it would take the completers about 500 hours to complete 100%. Although the developers believed the numbers were clearly a sales pitch, the news generated confusion and sparked discussions on social media about the duration of AAA titles and concerns about the amount of filler content that should be included. Techland was quick to clarify, stating that a game focused on Dying Light 2’s main campaign could be finished in around 20 hours, while side missions and interaction with all characters would last for around 80 hours or more.
Today, the official Twitter account of Shadow warrior has shared a post mocking Techland’s claim that Dying Light 2 takes 500 hours to complete. The tweet contains the following caption: “Shadow Warrior 3 will take 500 hours to complete 60 times,” and is accompanied by a new clip of the next installment, which will go on sale sometime this year. Although the claim is joked, it is a vague hint that the duration of the title could be around 8-10 hours, depending on the style of play.
Scheduled for the year 2021, Shadow Warrior 3 suffered a delay and was rescheduled to be officially released on an unknown date in 2022. The announcement of the delay was accompanied by a new cinematic trailer showing the brutal combat of the game. The developers revealed that they needed more time to polish the title and reach the level of quality that fans have come to expect from the third installment in the series.
Although the fact that the Shadow Warrior developers poke fun at Techland may sound like a mockery, the series is known for its over-the-top banter and tongue-in-cheek humor. Both Shadow Warrior 3 and Dying Light 2 will be officially released this year, so fans can look forward to another year of action-packed FPS titles.
