AMLO acknowledges that he did pressure ministers and the Court rejects the project for the inapplicability of informal preventive detention
The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) will reject by seven votes against and just four in favor the project of Minister Luis María Aguilar Morales who sought to “disapply” article 19 of the Constitution and with it invalidate the informal pre-trial detention . Although the ministers have not voted, they did issue the argumentation of the meaning of their vote.
On this issue, López Obrador acknowledged that he did exert some kind of “pressure” on the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation so that they do not endorse the elimination of informal preventive detention.
