The use of the Artificial intelligence has increased dramatically in recent months. Before it was only used in different scientific or commercial organizations, and now anyone has access to these machine learning mechanisms, like GPT Chat, for example.
It sounds like something harmless, since its uses are, at best, for programming systems. However, recent scientific research conducted by experts from the Oxford Universityhas made a couple of warnings and recommendations for its use to be regulated.
According to a review by yahoothe scientists declare before the UK Science and Technology Commission that Artificial Intelligence could become an “existential threat”. They say that, just as humans have made animal breeds extinct, mechanisms with this technology could easily exterminate us.
“With superhuman Artificial Intelligence there is a particular risk that is of a different kind, which is that it could kill everyone,” says Michael Cohen, a doctoral student at Oxford.
“If we had something much smarter than us obsessively trying to get this positive feedback, and it had taken over the world to get it, it would direct all the energy it could into ensuring its dominance over it, and that would leave us with no energy for ourselves.” adds Cohen, according to the cited media.
Artificial intelligence is humanized and people are digitized
An expert in automatic learning systems (machine learning) from the same university dares to say that a war could even be recorded in the future.
“I think the bleakest scenario is a civil war. I think this is realistic because Artificial Intelligence is trying to bottle up what makes humans special; that quality has led humans to completely change the face of the Earth. If we’re able to capture that in technology, then of course it’s going to pose as much risk to us as we’ve posed to other species – the dodo is one example.” explained Michael Osborne, a Machine Learning researcher at the University of Oxford.
