On the fourth day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting, there was a lot of discussion about the role of women in Web 3.0 and how the decentralized ecosystem is the right place for inclusion.

Cointelegraph Editor-in-Chief Kristina Lucrezia Cornèr moderated a panel on “Why Web 3.0 needs women at the forefront”, which was joined by people such as the vice president of Meta, Nicholas Mendelsohn, the CEO of the Global Blockchain Business Council, Sandra Ro, Sarah Endline, from Harvard Business School, and BillWright, Splunk’s head of government relations.
Speaking about female role models in the Web 3.0 space and cryptocurrencies, the panelists highlighted the contribution of the main female representatives in this nascent space. The vice president of Meta hinted that the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, who remains a pseudonym to this day, could very well be a woman. She explained:
“I’ll give you one: Satoshi Nakamoto, I mean, we all assume he’s a man, is that our bias? It’s just a name, he might as well be a woman.”
Cornèr added that he believes that the creator of Bitcoin (BTC) is a group of people made up of men and women rather than an individual.
The panel also discussed the challenges women face today and things that could be done better and improved. GBBC CEO Sandra Rao highlighted the growing contribution of women in the non-fungible token space and also raised concerns about the lack of women in the cryptocurrency trading space. He explained:
“Although dominance in NFTs has seen a large proportion of female participants, cryptocurrency trading certainly worries me about the lack of female representation.”
He also highlighted the need to create an “environment that accommodates women representatives in cryptocurrency trading”.
Bill WrightSplunk’s head of government relations and only male panelist, believes that the Web 3.0 space and blockchain are inclusive by nature. Said:
“I think web3 by nature is meant to be an inclusive environment, and a greater diversity of people involved would yield better results. Research has shown that diverse groups that focus on a problem lead to a better solution.” ”
The panelists agreed that the decentralized world has seen a significant increase in female representatives over the years and they expect that proportion to increase in the future.
