What is the tax mailbox for?
It is used for the SAT to notify you of any act or administrative resolution that it issues in digital documents, such as a tax discrepancy to resolve, reminders to submit monthly statements, messages of interest.
Also through this channel, taxpayers can comply with the authority’s requirements, present promotions, request notices, in addition to making inquiries about their tax situation.
How to activate it?
1.- Access. To activate your tax mailbox, access the sat.gob.mx page, there on the right side there is a section in green that says Tax Mailbox, click there, it will redirect you to a site where you can enter through your RFC and password. o RFC and electronic signature, plus a captcha to verify that you are not a robot.
2. Configure. Choose the Configuration option and fill out the contact form. You must register your email and cell phone number.
3. Confirm your means of contact. For email, click on the link that will arrive in your email, and for cell phones, enter the code sent to your phone via SMS in the contact form. Then enter the Tax Mailbox, Configuration option and register the code where it reads “Capture the activation code that we sent you by SMS”. Click on continue and that’s it, your electronic mailbox will be activated.
Who is obliged to activate it?
Every person, whether an individual or a company that has a SAT RFC, has a tax mailbox by default, which by obligation must be activated, in addition to keeping the means of contact with the SAT updated, also refers to article 134 of the CFF.
What happens if I do not register in the tax mailbox?
Article 86-C of the CFF considers it an offense not to enable the tax mailbox, not to register or not to keep the means of contact updated.
Whoever commits the infraction will be fined, ranging from 3,420 pesos to 10,260 pesos.
How do I know if I have notifications in my mailbox or when they don’t arrive?
You can check your tax mailbox periodically, access the mailbox, with your password, or electronic signature, click on the My Files section, there you will find: your documents, notifications and communications from the SAT.
Your tax mailbox will be linked to the email you provided, when you receive a notification or communication from the SAT, you will receive a notice to your email. But this is just a notification, it should not contain links, check that the source account is [email protected] and enter your tax mailbox on your own to corroborate that you received a message from the authority, when you open the document, the SAT will know when you read it and will assume that you are aware of the situation or requirement.
