Sanborns cake generates criticism for “surprise chocolate”
One of the most popular gifts among Mexicans for Father’s or Mother’s Day are cakes, which is why many brands that are dedicated to launch promotions and special designs on these products.
Sanborns earned criticism from the digital pulse, after a consumer shared the “creative” cake design that the firm has in one of its branches for the purpose of celebrating said date.
The consumer identified with the account @acueductoqro shared the image of the decorated cake that the firm sells in 1,310 Mexican pesos, but what the client criticized is the design that, according to what he mentions, looks like a “poop” on top of the dessert.
In the photograph you can see a cake decorated with mustard cream, with a writing that says: “My dad is a champion” and a figure that cannot be distinguished if it is a trophy, but according to the consumer it looks like excrement.

The firm’s creative cake received criticism from Internet users, where some commented that “I better buy him a carton of chelas.”
“There are people who suffer from constipation, being able to do it is a championship achievement”says another of the comments in reference to the message of the cake.
To date, the brand has not responded to the consumer’s complaint or curiosity with its strange design.
Other brands such as Sanborns have resorted to selling cakes on special festivities, such as Soriana, who won over consumers with her very creative cakes for last Valentine’s Day, going viral on the social network Twitter.
There is also Walmart that on the occasion of Pride month showed its support for said community with its cakes with the colors of the Pride flag. Or the most recent case, Bodega Aurrerá, which also joined the trend of that month with its cakes decorated with the date.
This only reflects the opinion of the consumer and the conversation that it generates in the digital pulse, for which Merca 2.0 requested the position of the brand in order to tell both sides of the story; however, so far it has not been received. The note will be updated in case of a response.
