A few weeks ago, Samsung advanced what would be its new range of soundbars for 2020, although the exact models that would arrive in Spain and their official prices were still unknown, data that the manufacturer has already provided for its two lines: Q Series and T Series.
These are two clearly different ranges with very different benefits and functionalities as well as price ranges ranging from 129 to 630 euros.
Samsung Q Series
The Q Series is made up of the Q800T and Q60T models, both characterized by having Artificial Intelligence algorithms that according to the manufacturer “provide new standards for home entertainment and audio”, being focused on complementing their QLED televisions thanks to the Q function -Symphony.
Thanks to it, a more immersive sound experience is offered by complementing the television speakers with the soundbar simultaneously, obtaining a greater sound field with better channel separation and effects that seem to come from a higher stratum, especially in cinema with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X tracks.
The two bars offer sound of up to 3.1.2 channels counting inside with drivers that point towards the ceiling to focus the sound waves of the surround effects. They are compatible with Samsung’s extra rear speakers that we will have to buy separately for a more realistic surround sound and both have an external wireless subwoofer, although the Q800T includes an 8-inch woofer model compared to the 6.5-inch Q60T.
The total power of both sets is 330 watts and another of the main differences between the two is that the Q800T incorporates an HDMI eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) port to transfer lossless multichannel audio directly from the TV or from a player to the bar.
Samsung T Series
On the other hand, we have the new T Series formed by the T550, T450, T420 and T400 models, more modest in performance and without the Q-Symphony function, without Dolby Atmos or DTS: X sound. All of them offer 2.1 sound although they differ in the number of drivers and in the power offered.
Thus, the most powerful is the T550 with a total of 5 drivers inside plus the external subwoofer and 320 watts in total, also being the only one capable of decoding tracks in DTS format. The T450 follows with 3 drivers plus the subwoofer and 200 watts, compatible with basic Dolby Digital.
The simplest models are the T420 and the T400, the first with 3 drivers plus the subwoofer and 150 watts of power and the second with 4 drivers but without a subwoofer and only 40 watts, making it clearly relegated to small-size televisions or for non-cinephile uses.
