- Kim Cattrall will return as Samantha Jones in a brief cameo for the season two finale of “And Just Like That,” the revival of “Sex and the City.”
- Cattrall filmed her part in March and will only have a phone conversation with Carrie Bradshaw.
- Even if it’s just a cameo, Samantha’s return is sure to get fans of “Sex and the City” excited.
At least for a brief moment, the universe of “Sex and the City” will be whole again. It is that, according to Variety, Kim Cattrall will reprise the iconic role of Samantha Jones in the season two finale of “And Just Like That,” the revival of “Sex and the City” that airs on HBO.
Fans of the series shouldn’t get too excited because, apparently, Cattrall will only appear in one scene, a brief cameo.
According to the American media, Cattrall already filmed his part on March 22 in New York, and does not interact with the other stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker.
In the scene, Samantha, who, according to what was seen in the first season, moved to the United Kingdom, will only have a telephone conversation with Carrie Bradshaw, an actress who plays Parker.
In the first season of “And Just Like That,” Carrie promised, via text messages, to take a trip to see each other and reconcile.
According to Variety, famed “Sex and the City” costume designer Patricia Field, who works on “And Just Like That,” dressed Cattrall for the brief scene.
Neither the actress nor the producer of the series confirmed the fact to the media.
Why Samantha left “Sex and the City”
Even if it’s just a cameo, Samantha’s return – in whatever form – is sure to appeal to “Sex and the City” fans, who have long clamored for the empowered publicist to return in the groundbreaking series that aired on HBO for six seasons between 1998 and 2004, and which spawned two films.
Cattrall said in 2016 that she was not going to play Samantha because he felt that the script for a third film, which was not made, did not do justice to his character.
Her decision to walk away sparked a public feud with Parker, and the new series added other characters into the lives of leads Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristen Davis).
Cattrall currently stars in the film “About My Father” with Robert De Niro and will be part of the cast of Netflix’s “Glamorous,” which opens this month.
The second season of “And Just Like That”, for its part, also begins at the end of June, although Cattrall’s scene as Samantha can only be seen at the end, in August.
