Since its arrival on the market, the Porsche electric car has become one of the best-selling models of the German firm. So much so that its demand does not stop increasing continuously and putting the true king of the brand on the edge of the abyss in terms of sales. Now, at the end of the third quarter, the Taycan has hit 911.
At the end of last April, with the Porsche sales results in hand, we learned that the Taycan had not only become one of the most desired models of the brand, but it was bordering on the true icon of the firm, the 911. The sports car has always been one of the best-selling models, but the arrival of the electric saloon has put it on the ropes.
If in spring the distance was barely 61 units between one and the other during the first quarter of the year – the Taycan had registered 9,072 units compared to 911 for 911 – today the situation has turned around. Public internal Porsche reports show that the Taycan, the sports saloon, has registered 28,640 units so far this year, and during the model’s second full year on the market, compared to 27,972 units for the new 992.
Porsche Taycan orders grow more than 911
Figures that represent an increase of 10%, which shows the success of the first of the brand’s electric models, and of which Detlev von Platen, director of marketing and sales of Porsche, has indicated that “the order books are good full and we arrived at the end of the year full of optimism and enthusiasm for action ». The ranking is completed the Cayenne, being the most successful with 62,451 units delivered and followed by the Macan with 61,944 units, increasing the figures 12% in the case of the largest SUV.
The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman have added a total of 15,916 units, just 1% more than the previous year, while those of the sports saloon, the Panamera, stand at 20,275 units. In sum, Porsche’s accounts culminate with 217,198 units manufactured and delivered worldwide during the three quarters of this year, assuming an increase of 13%. By country, the greatest commercial success has been achieved in the United States, with 30% more.
The Porsche box is fuller than ever, and that the firm is blaming the microprocessor crisis that is hitting brands, and to which it has decided to face seriously so as not to increase delivery times. In addition, the brand is working on an update of the main products in the range, with a great novelty for 2022 and which is trusted to continue increasing the numbers positively.
