Art and Beach, El Palmar
This traditional thatched hut is everything you can ask for in the summer of 2020: it is bioclimatic, has a private pool, can fit up to four people and is located in El Palmar, one of the wildest beaches in Andalusia.
A comfortable place to return to after a long day on the idyllic beaches of Cádiz, either to stay at ‘home’ watching the stars lying in the hanging hammock in the garden or to take a quick shower before going out to dinner in the nearby white town of Vejer.
Arana House, Albella
Listed as architectural interest, this rural stone house – with a unique gallery from which to see the Huesca mountains – is not only surrounded by 10,000 m² of private land in the shape of a meadow but is also located in the Albella town of only seven inhabitants, so the tranquility and isolation are more than assured.
Full rental (20-22 people), in Casa Arana there is no noise or light pollution, so the nights are “one million stars”, as they remind us from the property.
You can do different activities in the area, such as taking a bath or rafting or kayaking on the Ara River (a 20-minute walk) or taking the car and getting a short drive to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park and the canyon from Añisclo.
Llucasaldent Gran, Son Bou, Alaior
Own vegetable garden, chickens, catch of the day, oil and wine produced in an artisanal way on the farm… The Mediterranean essence cooked with love, as they say, is what they serve in the restaurant of this farmhouse located in the interior of Menorca.
Although its apartments with views – some to the sea and the countryside and others to Monte Toro, the highest mountain on the island – are charming and its two dream pools communicate with each other through a river, it is their Llucasaldent Gran country house, in style Menorca, the most desired, since it has its own pool and independent access.
Be careful with your interior design! Here the details, such as the doors and rails made of ullastre wood, are not that they are ‘Made in Menorca’ but that they are ‘Made in Llucasaldent Gran’, a 100-hectare estate in which to isolate yourself from the world to find yourself.
La Piconera, Osor
With a traditional exterior appearance ( opening photo of the report ), this rural Girona town stands out instead for its contemporary interior design, which brings to the trip that point of sophistication that some are not willing to give up even when it comes to making a getaway to nature.
Past and present go hand in hand in this house (for 9 people) with thick stone walls designed not to leave it if you wish (be careful with the gazebo and the private pool!), But located next to the Natural Area of Les Guilleries-Savassona, ideal for hiking.
Cortijo Montano, la Loma
If the thing was to discover empty Spain, here is a plan, travel to the region of La Loma, in Jaén –perhaps the least explored province in Andalusia–, and get fully into the interior of Andalusia and the area where the most olive oil olive is produced in the world.
The place is the Cortijo Montano, a beautiful full rental rural house (for 12 people) decorated with a lot of charm, which is in the center of the province, isolated from everything, in a huge farm among orange trees, azaleas and, of course, olive trees.
It has a pool, barbecue, swings… and even a river because a meander of the Guadalquivir passes through the property. At 12 kilometers there is a greenway, at 18 a Roman site and a medieval castle (that of Canena) and at 20 two World Heritage cities: Úbeda and Baeza.

The Jewel of Cabo de Gata, Agua Amarga
Who wouldn’t want to lie by the Phoenician pool at this property that hugs the hills of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park?
You will have access to this idyllic and relaxed space if you book any of the three farmhouses of La Joya de Cabo de Gata, three kilometers from the fishing town of Agua Amarga. You can also stroll through its terraces, under the surplus of palm trees or in the middle of the olive grove before sitting down to meditate on its esplanade of the Yin and Yang Mandala or pamper yourself with a massage in its Arab pavilion.
Mozaga farmhouse, San Bartolomé
If being in Lanzarote is already in itself being on another planet, imagine if, in addition, to this volcanic environment of incredible landscapes we add a typical Canarian rural house from the late eighteenth century listed as Historic Heritage of the island.
Six tastefully and delicately decorated rooms and two suites add to the attractive sundeck, patios and glassed-in restaurant overlooking the intriguing Lanzarote skyline to serve a guest looking to get away from the ‘beach’ crowds: Caserío de Mozaga is nestled in the heart of the island, very close to La Geria.
Kabania, Villaviciosa
Among all the little houses that Kabania has scattered around Asturias, the one on the cliff (near Oles, Villaviciosa) is undoubtedly the one that has dazzled us: due to its situation, facing the infinity of the Cantabrian Sea, for its simplicity and for that outdoor bathtub who seems to be calling us out loud.
It has two double bedrooms, is pet friendly (no breed or size restriction) and the beaches of Meron, Spain and Rodiles are just a stone’s throw away.
Carrasca Sea, Vilafermosa del Riu
Feeling the constant presence of the landscape is the objective of the panoramic window of the Mar de la Carrasca solar room. Because in the rooms and houses of this farmhouse located a few kilometers from Castellón, connection with nature is essential to achieve the desired disconnection (there is no TV, there is no Wi-Fi, there are no technological distractions).
So sustainable is the property that the heat from the radiators and the hot water come from a fire cooker; the electric energy, from the solar panels and the water from the taps, from a nearby spring, in addition to having different wood stoves distributed throughout the spaces.
The cuisine is seasonal and local (they grow their own vegetables in the garden) and with their workshops and retreats they seek to show the “power of nature”.
Country house El Puig, La Garrotxa (Girona)
There was a time when the star activity in La Garrotxa was to fly over its volcanic cones in a balloon. Today, when everything has changed, we ‘settle’ with looking up at the sky to see its colorful sunsets. And there are no more incredible than those enjoyed from this rural farmhouse located in El Puig.
Although greetings to the sun are also welcome from its platform with views of the valley since the place is prepared for retreats, as well as individual therapies for meditation or comprehensive unlocking.
