Will there be a sequel to RRR. The Indian mega-hit that took Netflix viewers by storm is reportedly returning to deliver an equally epic sequel, and it’s already in its early stages of development. This was confirmed by the director, SS Rajamouli, who assured that we will know more about this story soon, but several things related to the project remain to be discussed.
What is known about the sequel RRR?
As reported The A.V. Club, it was during a screening of the first installment when the director mentioned that he was already working on his return to this universe that is torn between fiction and real historical events. For a long time after the release of the previous film, people who enjoyed the action adventure insistently asked what the future of the journey would be. This was what he said:
«My father is the scriptwriter of all my films. We’ve talked a bit about RRR 2 and is working on the story«.
For the moment, that is all the information that is available in this regard, although, at least, the decision has already been made to move forward with a project that was believed to be stagnant. Above all, because the first film closed its own cycle satisfactorily. However, as the original focuses on two historical figures from India, surely there are many more aspects of their lives to explore.
The arrival of the sequel RRR It sure is good news for those who enjoy intense on-screen action. For this very reason, its predecessor became an international phenomenon, as its crazy and explosive sequences mixed real characters with an adrenaline-pumping and rarely seen rhythm. Such technical and visual display made it the most expensive film in the history of India.
In fact, the lead, Rama Rao Jr., who plays the revolutionary Komaram Bheem, spoke (via Variety) on the possibility of a franchise. These were his words:
«I have used the word franchise thinking, hoping that there will be another world of RRR again. Sometimes if you just wait and say a few words expecting it to happen, it will happen. It’s just a way of thinking positive, of wanting more.”
RRR can be seen on Netflix.
