starwars has gone through a turbulent path in terms of productions created by Disney after that multi-million dollar acquisition that was historic even if fans have not loved it.
At this point we have already witnessed a new trilogy that has divided the fans, but above all it has killed a bit of the furor and love for the franchise.
Star Wars suddenly doesn’t feel as relevant to the movie industry anymore. This was demonstrated by the collapse of the box office of those three tapes that began their unstoppable stumble with Episode VIII and that saw the end of an era with The Rise of Skywalker.
The spinoffs ended up being canceled or mutated into series for Disney Plus, the streaming platform where Jon Favreau gave life to the only project that kept faith with the future of this franchise: The Mandalorian.
This series, where we discover Grogu, better known online and among fans as Baby Yoda, represented a before and after.
To date, it remains the best thing that has happened to Star Wars since Disney owns it (although Andor is not far away) and now, as part of the anniversary of the premiere of the first season of the Mando, we have received a brutal surprise:
Disney Plus teams up with Hayao Miyazaki for the surprise premiere of Zen: Grogu and the Creatures of Studio Ghibli
Star Wars blew up the internet a few days ago last week when they revealed that they had prepared a collaboration with the legendary animation studio to present Zen — Grogu and Dust Bunnies.
It is an animated short, revealed by many hours of expectationwhere it was known that they would do something together but nobody knew precisely what the collaboration between the two companies consisted of:
In the end it was revealed that the team production was a hand-animated short, in the most traditional way possible, starring Grogu and produced by Studio Ghibli.
The biggest surprise is that the short was already finished and practically as soon as its official title was revealed, it was almost almost released on the streaming platform:
In the case of Latin America, the production has taken the title of Zen: Grogu and The Creatures from the Ghibli studio and is also available from November 12, 2022.
We already had the opportunity to see it and we cannot give many details without giving spoilers. Since faithful to their tradition, the Ghibli boys have achieved something simple, minimalist and endearing.
With a duration of just 3 minutes, the title reveals the obvious cross-over between the character of The Mandalorian and the Dust Bunnies, whom we saw in My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away (Spirited Away),
Everything you imagine could happen between the two characters materializes in this short animation and we fully recommend it if you are a fan of both companies.
