The new edition of Nintendo Direct Mini June left us several interesting surprises. One of them is provided by Toybox, Devolver Digital and LucasFilm Gameswho showed us a small preview of Return to Monkey Island.
During the gameplay presentation trailer for Return to Monkey Islandwe were able to know that this title Coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch and PCat least for now. This is the sequel to Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revengea classic style game Point ‘n Click.
The game director is Ron Gilbertwho works together with the co-writer Dave Grossman and the composers Michael Land, Michael McConnell and Clint Bajakian. All of them were in charge of giving a new style to this new installment of Monkey Island. One of the most important innovations includes an easy mode and a hint system. Obviously this will help new players to become familiar with the methodology of the series.
In Return to Monkey Island we will put ourselves in the skin of Guybrush Threepwood, a fearsome pirate. Our objective will be to enter the turbulent waters of the Caribbean in search of evil LeChuck. The journey will not be easy, as we will have to deal with other old enemies, in addition to being warned that a new crew of Pirate Leaders could stand in our way. In addition to being able to play as Guybrush Threepwoodthe trailer suggests we might as well play as Elaine Marley, swashbuckler, sea captain, and former governor of the tri-island area.
This game will be available sometime in 2022 exclusively for PC and Nintendo Switch. Obviously the possibility of the game being delayed to 2023 is more than possible, especially considering how little we saw in this trailer.
