The Apex Legends gaming community is diving into Season 14 of Respawn Entertainment’s beloved battle royale video game, after it launched on August 9, bringing the typical meta shake-up and, as has become customary with new seasons, a new legend in the form of Vantage.
Something that we find quite curious is that, along with the new content and weapon adjustments, there were a series of alterations in the storm of the video game. The developers increased the damage of the first ring from 2 to 3 HP per pulse and reduced the shrink time from 3 minutes to 1 minute.

In short, the ring now does more damage and gets closer faster. In response, players have been frustrated by the two changes, stating that they are forced to “fight” the storm more than real opponents and that the tweaks have gone too far. It’s actually flown under the radar up to this point, but shortly after Season 14 got underway in-game, Respawn’s Josh Medina offered a response to the complaints.
Apex Legends Senior Producer asked players for their first impressions, to which one player pointed to storm changes as an issue. They said, “Make it hit harder or make it go faster, but I don’t see the need for either… I understand it’s to keep people from camping and ganking, but it’s too much.”
In response, the developer simply said: “Interesting version of the circle change.” It’s a pretty vague answer, but it shows that the dev team is aware of player feedback and therefore might hint at changes in the near future.
Respawn has regularly emphasized that decisions are made based on a number of factors, of which player feedback is one. However, any changes will almost certainly come after data testing and internal feedback, rather than going ahead with reversals based on immediate fanbase frustrations.
