“Our goal is to create synergies between various countries, we are talking about increases in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil,” Cambolive asserted in a meeting with the media. “Our intention (in Mexico) is to invest on a new platform that would start operating in the next two years. I would like that,” she added.
Renault had said it hoped to start production of the new model in 2026.
In the 2000s, nissan manufactured the Renault Clío model at its Aguascalientes plant, which shared a platform with Platina. Subsequently, in Cuernavaca, Morelos, he assembled some Renault Alaskan units, which shared a platform with Nissan Frontier. For this new model, both manufacturers will once again create synergy.
Magda López, CEO of Renault in Mexico, stressed that although there is still no expected investment figure or whether it will be an electric or internal combustion model, the company works daily on this product to ensure the highest possible profitabilityboth in the local market and in other markets.
“Right now we are in a exploratory stage about the characteristics that the product will have. Yes, it will be for the local market, but also for export, since it cannot be a small production”, he added.

Meanwhile, this Thursday the company announced a investment for 100 million dollars in Colombiaintended for the creation of a new vehicle manufacturing platform, as well as technological updating in the Envigado complex, Antioquia.
Luiz Fernando Pedrucci, CEO of Renault Latin America, highlighted that the fact that Renault is not yet contemplating an investment to resume its production in Mexico does not mean that the country is not among your priority plansbut the projects in the industry are long-term.
“In our industry, projects are long-term, for example, in the announcement in Colombia we took between two and three years to plan… It is not that we are postponing it (to Mexico), but rather that each project has a maturation time. Now the work teams are investigating which is the best product. There is a whole technical job behind it, but it is the normal path of our industry, ”she adds.
