The chiaroscuro of Mexican public health
The outlook looks complex and even yesterday a demonstration was reported in Mexico City. It was carried out by personnel from the National Medical Center “20 de Noviembre” and one of the demands was to end the shortage of medicines. It is clearly stated that there are not enough supplies in the Institute’s pharmacies.
Although it is not the only complaint because It is also mentioned that there are overtime payment debts and non-compliance in employment contracts. For all of the above several doctors took to the streets to demand to be heard.
Despite the fact that there is still no official response from the authorities, today the CEO, Pedro Zenteno, said that a record amount will be invested in the remodeling of hospitals. The strategy consists of 186.5 million pesos that will be allocated to comprehensive maintenance works of 451 first and second level medical units in the country.
“The objective is to reverse structural problems that the institute faces, such as the physical deterioration of the real estate facilities dedicated to medical care, the result of decades of abandonment and neglect by previous governments.”
Where did the first remodeling works begin?

In addition, they are about to start other works in 40 more units in these states.
He specified that the 318 maintenance works to the remaining units are scheduled to be carried out in the course of 2023until concluding a total of 451 health establishments intervened for the benefit of the beneficiaries and contribute to dignifying the health facilities and improving services.
López Elizalde pointed out that two medical units from Tlaxcala and one from Campeche began work in December for the good condition of their facilities.
