Farasis Energy’s Ultra High Power batteries will arrive in 2025 and promise unprecedented autonomy and charging speed. The Chinese company already supplies batteries to some Mercedes-Benz models.
Electric car manufacturers face several challenges that must be overcome before they become the first choice of purchase for drivers around the world.
In addition to reducing their prices and seeing their products accompanied by a recharging infrastructure in accordance with their ambitious expansion plans, it is vital that progress continue to be made in key points such as autonomy and, above all, waiting times when charging. recharge batteries.
Ultra High Energy batteries will be able to exceed one million kilometers
Farasis Energy, a Chinese company of which Mercedes Benz has a stake and that has a factory in Germany, supplies batteries to models of the German brand such as the EQS and the EQC. And it is already working hard to do the same with its new Ultra High Power batteries in the future Mercedes Vision AMG, among other models.
But what makes the new Ultra High Power batteries so highly anticipated by Mercedes-Benz? Mainly, two of the fields in which the electric car must continue advancing if it wants to establish itself definitively in the market: autonomy and, above all, recharging speed.
In fact, Farasis Energy promises that with these batteries it will be possible to recover 250 kilometers of autonomy in just 8 minutes, bringing the old dream of equating the refueling times of combustion vehicles to those of recharging electric vehicles. It will even be possible to go from 10% to 80% in less than 15 minutes.
Lighter and longer lasting batteries
As we have said, the current generation of Farasis Energy batteries is already used by some Mercedes models, which from 2025 will receive the aforementioned generation. Ultra High Power.
In addition to allowing charging times to be reduced, these new lithium-ion batteries will have a density of 330Wh/kg and an estimated weight reduction of 30 kg.
Their duration will also be noticeably increased, reaching up to 1500 full charge cycles. This, in practice, will make the batteries as durable or longer than the vehicle itself, since they can exceed one million kilometers.
