Director of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, James Gunn, has had to explain why he “liked” a tweet from actor Alan Tudyk supporting Justice League director Joss Whedon in 2020
James Gunn, always very active on social networks, recently clarified several interactions he had in the past on them, both for fans and for former members of the DCEU, including the actor from the League of Justice, Ray Fisher, who asked James Gunn to explain “I like it” a Tweet posted by actor Alan Tudyk in 2020, supporting director Joss Whedon. At the time, Fisher accused the director of The Justice League of unprofessional and abusive behavior on the set of the film and many supported him.
Gunn explained: Shortly after Alan tweeted this, he apologized for commenting on a situation he knew nothing about.. He added: “I read what Alan said [y] I thought, ‘Damn, he’s right. It was something I knew nothing about [y] I shouldn’t have liked the tweet”.
Tudyk received some backlash from him and later stated: “I shouldn’t deny someone else’s experience if I wasn’t there. He is ignorant». He added: “I have my experiences inside and outside of work with [Joss Whedon] where he has been kind, supportive, brilliant and funny». The response from fans was divided, although many continued to criticize the actor for apparently trying to dismiss Fisher’s experience and his claim against the director.

The beginning of the controversy
Fisher’s accusations against Whedon began in 2020 with a social media post, in which the actor retracted praise he gave Whedon surrounding the release of The Justice League in 2017. He later detailed the major disagreements they had regarding Cyborg’s portrayal and claimed that the film’s cast and crew had been abused by the director.
Fisher also claimed that Whedon was enabled by the producers of the League of Justice, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Whedon, Johns and Berg have denied the allegations. WarnerMedia eventually launched an investigation into Fisher’s allegations. Although the company stated that corrective measures had been taken, the results of the investigation have not been made public.
Gal Gadot also denounced Whedon’s inappropriate behavior
But Fisher isn’t the only actor to experience unethical behavior on set. Actress Gal Gadot, known for playing wonder-woman throughout the DCEU, he previously claimed that he confronted Whedon about portraying the superhero, at which point Whedon allegedly threatened his career. According to a member of the production, the director told him: “that he was the writer and that she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie”. Gadot stated that she had handled the matter on the spot and that Warner Bros. was able to help her resolve it in a timely manner.
However, it is curious that Ray Fisher is still obsessed with this issue and persecutes anyone who supported Joss Whedon when he decided to denounce the treatment he received on the set and more that he continues to act almost by reflex.
What do you think? Would you do the same? In my opinion, acting like this does his career a disservice, since he has been fired from Warner Bros and will not appear in the movie The Flash where the actor had more than just a cameo, and in recent years since the premiere of the Justice League, his participation in projects has been limited to a role in the third season of True Detective in 2019 and the series Women of the Movement of this 2022.
