Charging the smartphone battery is one of the biggest complications for any user to date.
Devices are becoming more powerful, but also more demanding of resources. This has led companies like Qualcomm to develop fast charging technology, but it seems that it is never enough.
The good news is that the firm has already presented the first advances of the new Quick Charge 5.0 that would be able to take our battery from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes.
This devastating technology has just been shown by Qualcomm on its official website where it details some general details of the platform.
As would be expected, Quick Charge 5.0 will need charging via a cable. So this technology will remain alien to wireless chargers.
An important leap
Quick Charge 1.0 was presented and launched on the market in the distant year of 2013. Since then we have seen how it has improved with each new generation.
But this new version surpasses any predecessor by a large margin, thanks to its power and speed achieved. Until becoming 70% more efficient than version 4.0.
Supporting a wide range of input voltages between 3.3V to 20V. It’s just a matter of having the right cable to support the rate and range of power.
Future smartphone models are expected to feature this technology. Basically any terminal with a Snapdragon 865 or 865 Plus could support Quick Charge 5.0.
And with this there is the feeling that a new era is opening for the industry.
