Qatar goes with everything for Manchester United: Sheikh Al-Thani’s new offer

This is the Qatari sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani, who has formalized his new offer for the acquisition of the English club after he was granted an extension of the term to present an improved proposal, British media reported this Saturday. The initial term expired last Wednesday, but the representatives of the sheikh, president of the Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), requested an extension to make what they consider an offer “very competitive but rational”,

According to the Sky Sports channel, this offer for a purchase that could become the most expensive transaction for a sports club in history is added to the one presented on Thursday by the British millionaire Jim Ratcliffe, owner of the petrochemical company Ineos.

It has also been known that the Finnish businessman Thomas Zilliacus has joined the bid with an improved proposal, after having proposed Al Thani and Ratcliffe to join their candidacies to his “for the good of the club, instead of throwing money away in a mad race”.

“My company XXI Century Capital raised its offer to buy Manchester United last night. We will return the club to its glory days as kings of Europe and significantly increase its already huge fan base around the world.”Zilliacus wrote on Twitter today.

The current owners of Manchester United, the Glazer family, announced last year that they were seeking “strategic alternatives” for the future of the club, including a possible sale that, despite everything, is not taken for granted.

The British media have also reported that the US investment fund Elliott Management is interested in participating in the financing of the new bids or of the Glazer family itself.
