This September 15 is being an intense day as far as firmware is concerned. We have already witnessed the news related to the update of systems such as PlayStation 5, which offers many changes focused on improving the user experience. Also Nintendo Switch has added with its update an element as important as Bluetooth audio. Well, the thing does not stop there, since PlayStation 4 has joined the party with a new system update.
It is evident that PS4 will not be able to receive many of the Next-Gen add-ons of its successor, but Sony, aware that there are still tens of millions of Old-Gen consoles active, has incorporated a few elements that will improve the performance and experience of this console in sunset. As shown below, these new features range from changes to the trophy system to new elements that enhance the parental control experience:
We can see the PS5 trophies on our PS4 consoles, both from our trophy list and from the Games tab.
In the Messages category, we can delete any circle that we own. All members that are part of that circle will be eliminated instantly, an option that we can easily find using the Options button on the circle that we want to eliminate. What’s more, if we block a user, we can easily leave any circle in which we are only with the blocked user, without making us leave the circles in which there are more people, in addition to the blocked one.
We can use the PS Remote Play application with mobile data both on Android and iOS devices.
Parental control will have a new improvement: if the minor requests communication functions in a video game, the person responsible you will receive a notification on both PS4 and Playstation App. When the responsible person accepts or rejects this request, the minor will immediately receive the notification in the same way.
In communication preferences, we can activate or deactivate the possibility that we receive notifications on our PS4 or in our email about products and special offers that may interest us.
All these functionalities are what are now available for all PS4 systems with an internet connection. It does not make any revolutionary changes nor is it expected to suffer at this point, but with these small improvements, users of this platform will be able to continue enjoying a renewed user experience until they make the leap to next-generation consoles. It will not have 4K or an external SSD, but this console will still have support and titles that will continue to make it attractive.
The PS4 entry is updated to system version 9.00: this is all that it includes was published first in Alpha Beta Play.
