The tropical storm roslyn formed this Thursday off the coast of the state of Guerrero, in the Mexican Pacific, where it will cause heavy rains”, as reported by the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The phenomenon formed at 10:00 local time (15:00 GMT) with its center located 280 kilometers south of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and 490 kilometers south-southeast of Manzanillo, Colima, according to the SMN.
The cyclone brings maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, gusts of 85 kilometers per hour and displacement to the west at 9 kilometers per hour, the agency of the National Water Commission (Conagua).
Roslyn will generate “intense punctual” rains,
The forecast predicts that during the next few hours the cloud bands of Roslyn will cause “intense punctual” rains, from 75 to 150 millimeters, in regions of the state of Guerrero.
There will also be “very strong” rainfall in areas of Michoacán, and “strong” in the states of Colima, Jalisco and Oaxaca.
Likewise, the SMN projected wind gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and waves of 2 to 4 meters high on the coasts of Colima, Guerrero and Michoacán.
Rain could cause landslides
The forecast rains could generate landslides, increase in the levels of rivers and streams, overflows and floods in low-lying areas of the mentioned states, for which the population and maritime navigation are urged to be attentive to the warnings”,

Cyclones in 2022
So far, in the 2022 season in Mexico, cyclones have formed in the Pacific Ocean Agatha, Blas, Celia, Darby, Estelle, Frank, Georgette, Howard, Ivette, Javier, Kay, Lester, Madeline, Newton, Orlene, and Paine.
Agatha, Darby, Kay and Orlene they reached a category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Last May, the Mexican authorities predicted the formation of up to 40 named cyclones by 2022, which they described as an “active season”, and they predicted that of the total number of tropical cyclones generated, at least 5 would impact the country.
