Flight booked, hotel waiting and a jet-setting spirit. Of all the activities involved in leaving for the honeymoon, there is only one that becomes a headache for many: packing. In her book “Fashion and Manners” (2016), personal image expert Gisela Méndez reveals the keys to saving space in your luggage. Let’s do it!
Blouses and shirts
They must be fully buttoned. Fold them with the sleeves back, this will make them less wrinkled in the front, and helps in case you need to change right away when you arrive at your destination.
skirts
Fold them vertically into two or three parts and place them on your suitcase; if they are very long, fold them horizontally as well. Try to extend them as soon as you arrive.
Pants
Fold them at the seam. To accommodate them you can put half of the pants inside the suitcase and place about five or six pieces and cover them with the other half that was left out; this will prevent a horizontal line from being drawn down the middle of the legs.
sacks
The first option is to fold them inside out without removing the sleeves, gather them shoulder to shoulder, fold them in half again and put them in the suitcase. Or, button them up, cross the sleeves at chest level, fold them in half, and you’re done.
sweaters
They go on top so they can protect your clothes. They are very sturdy!
Underwear
Store it in cloth bags or in the special compartments that suitcases have. To store your bras, try not to fold the cups, since you only deform the garment; better twist the bridge so that you can place one glass inside another.
Socks
If you wear a jacket, insert your socks in the shoulder pads, so that the jacket is less wrinkled. You can also put them in shoes.
Pijama
You can fold it front to back or roll it up and tuck it between the dividers. These garments can also cover the most delicate.
Shoes
The ideal is to put them in individual bags and place them in the corners, so they are protected by the structures of the suitcase. Some luggage usually have special compartments, put them there sole to sole, heel to heel.
Belts
Place them around the inside of the suitcase, you won’t even see them.
ties
Roll them up and stuff them into the holes. Another alternative is to fold them in half and place them across the width of the suitcase. And one more is to wrap them around the inside of your suitcase, just like belts. Due to the fabric with which they are made, they do not form permanent wrinkles and they look great when stretched.
Accessories
Put them in a small velvet bag and place it in one of the gaps between the clothes. If you wear jewelry, it is better to keep it in your handbag.
Personal care products
Get a toiletry bag or a transparent bag with a zipper to store your personal toiletries. It will also help you to have some transparent plastic containers to carry liquids such as shampoo and conditioner. In this way, they will be highly visible and the screening at the airport will be faster.

Méndez also recommends packing the most resistant fabric garments in the first and last layer; delicate clothes go in the middle. Avoid storing wet clothes and using the security straps on your suitcase. Lastly, try not to retouch it, as it could be damaged, unsewn, torn and your clothes will end up very, very badly.
