From the moment we first saw Microsoft’s Surface Duo, few extra details have appeared beyond those that the company itself announced at the time of the presentation or later about its software. Now, however, new leaks reveal what are the possible full specifications of Microsoft’s Surface Duo. Specifications that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 instead of the 865 or an 11 MP camera among some of its features.
Officially it is known that the Surface Duo will have two 5.6-inch screens at a resolution of 1.00 x 1,350 pixels each. The device will be compatible with the stylus for Surface and well, if its design is not obvious, it is a folding device with two screens. Beyond that, the internal specifications of the terminal are unknown.
The specifications that are considered for Microsoft Surface Duo
Windows Central collects new leaks that have come to light in recent days regarding the internal specifications of the Surface Duo. As they have learned from their sources, Microsoft employees are already testing prototypes that are very close to what will be the thin version of the device. With the following specifications:
- 64GB or 256GB internal storage and no memory expansion.
- 6 GB RAM.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, in principle without the 865 chip because that requires extra space for the 5G chip that Microsoft did not plan in the initial versions of the device.
- Single 11-megapixel camera with 2/0 aperture at 1.12um. The camera will be used both as rear and front to be able to fold the device.
- 3,460 mAh capacity battery. It will be interesting how it copes with the two screens of the terminal.
- Two AMOLED panels with a pixel density of 401 ppi and 4: 3 aspect ratio on both.
- Fingerprint sensor, USB-C, nanoSIM and support for the Surface stylus.
- With Android 10 as a pre-installed operating system with option to upgrade to Android 11.
Something that is still unknown is the final price that the Surface Duo will have. If the leaks are correct, the specifications do not place it especially in the highest range of smartphones, but the characteristics that make the Surface Duo special are its form factor. The double screen with the 360-degree angle hinge as well as the interaction between them through the software will be the big bet.
It is estimated that the Surface Duo will arrive before the Christmas campaign of 2020. However, the current situation due to COVID-19 has slowed the progress of many projects in the big tech companies, so the launch of the Surface Duo may also be affected.
