Netflix started the year on the right foot due to the premiere of Rebel, the reboot from the popular 2004 youth soap opera that promises to steal the hearts of new generations. And boy was it a success, as it was one of the most viewed titles throughout the week and continues in the top 10 of the platform streaming in Mexico.
The project, starring a young and talented cast, has received a lot of support not only from the public, but also from the actors of the version that we already know and love.
Poncho Herrera’s warning
One of the people who recently spoke about the series was Poncho Herrera, who played Miguel Arango Cervera during the three seasons that the novel lasted and, in addition, was part of RBD, the highly successful group that emerged from history.
Through his Twitter account, Poncho sent them nothing more than good wishes and encouraging words, as well as a little advice or warning, since he has already gone through what they are about to live. The actor advised the new cast to “review their contracts well.”

All the success in the world!
Advice, check your contracts well 😉 https://t.co/lZ3Myw3siT– Alfonso Herrera (@ponchohd) January 9, 2022
The comment caused much speculation among his admirers and there were those who criticized him for “not evaluating ‘Rebelde'”, but it is not the first time that a member of the cast of the telenovela talks about the irregularities that occurred at that time, since Dulce María, who played Roberta Pardo, recently said in an interview with Yordi Rosado that they were not paid well, especially considering how much money was generated from RBD tours.
In addition, due to the terms of their contracts, they did not receive any of the profits that were generated from things like merchandise or radio and television appearances.
“We won very little”
I did well for my campaigns, not so much for the novel or for the group. Once all the members of the group got together, we were on a tour in Chile, and we started talking and we realized that we all won differently. And it was very strong, because we also earned very little for what we worked for and what was generated in the concerts.
Knowing this, we are not surprised that Poncho warns new talents to take a good look at what they sign, to be more careful than the original cast and to make sure they agree to the terms and conditions of their contract.
