Ok, you’ve made it this far, so are you ready for the spoiler? In reality, perhaps not all fans are speechless at such a revelation, as it seemed slightly predictable when paying attention to a certain detail in the film. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 of 2017.
In that sequel, the omnipotent Ego (Kurt Russell) introduces himself to Peter Quill as his biological father. And he eventually declares that he had many, many mates throughout the universe, for the sole purpose of conceiving a worthy heir who could manipulate the power of the celestials. The villain even shows a mural that portrays all the women he got pregnant, and there was no shortage of eyes in the public that saw enormous similarities between one of them and the endearing Mantis…
Anyway, it turns out that those suspicions were in the right direction. Although Mantis was initially spoken of as a mere servant of Ego, she was truly his daughter; ergo, Quill’s half-sister.
