Polygon, the blockchain development platform, will land in Latin America with an important announcement for the crypto community. As reported in a statement to Cointelegraph en Español, The launch of the Polygon zkEVM Public Testnet would be soon, a technology considered very important within the blockchain world, since it is a solution that achieves three main design objectives; such as infinite scalability, high security guarantees, and an Ethereum-like experience.
Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic said: “Today we are pleased to launch the Polygon zkEVM public testnet, the first full-featured open source zkEVM network. It was believed that zkEVM would take several more years to come to market, which makes this an even more groundbreaking milestone, not only for Polygon but for the entire Web3 industry.“.
It is a project that offers a complete and open source implementation of zkEVM. With this launch it is objective that developers are encouraged to know the network, to identify errors and to collaborate with Polygon, thus together ushering in a new era of Web3 adoption.
Bjelic stressed: “We invite the entire community to test the network, help us test its limits, create and identify bugs, so that together we can deliver the first zkEVM to the world!“.
The creation of the ZK Whiteboard Sessions presented by ZK Hack and powered by Polygon, represents a state of zk education in the world, so today opened access to the Polygon University beta site, with a zkEVM module where developers can learn how to start building with the public testnet.
Polygon zkEVM is “ethereum equivalent”, which means that fully inherits Ethereum’s widely adopted and mature developer ecosystem. All existing smart contracts, developer tools, and wallets already built on Ethereum and Polygon’s PoS will work seamlessly while benefiting from Ethereum’s security and, over time, massive scalability.
The statement specified that: “This time, Polygon zkEVM harnesses the power of ZK testing to reduce transaction costs and increase performance, thanks to the security of Ethereum. This makes it especially suitable for solutions that require both speed and security, such as payments, finance, gaming, and many more. With Polygon zkEVM, enterprises can securely build robust, fast, and low-cost full-featured decentralized applications on Ethereum.”.
It was also said that:The security and censorship resistance of Polygon zkEVM is also advantageous for DeFi applications. Unlike their bullish counterparts, zk-rollups do not have to wait long periods for withdrawals, which means that Polygon zkEVM offers greater capital efficiency”.
Polygon’s zkEVM testnet also claims to include an open source zk-Prover.
They further stated:What sets Polygon zkEVM apart is its full equivalence to the Ethereum virtual machine, which means developers don’t have to use new programming languages and tools on existing code to migrate to zkEVM. This is a benefit from the builders point of view as it removes any onboarding friction as well as the need for additional security audits of your current code base.”.
It was suggested that: “Polygon zkEVM prover algorithm is efficient and cheap, offering faster completion (minutes instead of weeks) and more capital efficiency”.
David Schwartz, co-founder of Polygon Hermez assured that this is the next step for those who are in the Ethereum world. He further stated: “Ultimately, Polygon zkEVM is the next step in the Ethereum journey, and we are moving forward to give our users all the benefits of a working zkEVM (scalability without compromise). We have some work to do before we fully achieve those goals, and we’re eager to find out exactly what needs to be improved and get feedback. That’s why we invite you to help us test the trial version of Polygon zkEVM“.
Some of the biggest DeFi platforms, including Aave and Uniswap, as well as social platform web3 Lens and gaming studio Midnight Society, will be among the first protocols to be deployed on the zkEVM testnet. to scale your decentralized applications (dapps).
They explained in the report that: “Polygon solidifies its commitment to the region by supporting the blockchain industry in Colombia, through its open and free event called Polygon Connect. This is a global initiative of the company that brought together the entire ecosystem through live events, hackathons, investment rounds, mentoring, networking, among others. This space, designed for developers, web3 creators, artists and industry enthusiasts, sought to promote the projects of Colombians interested in innovating on Ethereum”.
