the popular podcaster Joe Rogan just got the hang of Bitcoin (BTC). On his most recent podcast with Khalil Rountree, a renowned mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Rogan explained that BTC is something the “government didn’t see coming.”
“I think of Bitcoin the same way I think of the early days of the Internet. They [el gobierno] they didn’t see it coming and now it’s a viable form of currency; you can buy things with it.”
Rogan explained that there will come a time when “some government” will implement a “centralized currency that it can control”, with the intention of “limiting what you spend your money on”. Bitcoin is outside of government control, as it is a decentralized payment network that does not require permissions.
Rogan is a staunch supporter of Bitcoin, having first spoken about the world’s largest cryptocurrency in 2014. Rogan explained to Andreas Antonopoulos in 2016 that he was “fully into” the Bitcoin team when the price was below $1,000.
While 2021 was the year popular celebrities clamored for cryptocurrency, Joe Rogan’s conviction for Bitcoin ossified and evolved.
Rogan has become increasingly interested in Bitcoin: Only in January of this year, Rogan was hopeful about Bitcoin but explained that it could still “fall apart”. On yesterday’s podcast, Rogan’s conviction shone through.
The Joe Rogan Experience is Spotify’s most popular show, with over 11 million listeners per episode. Anthony Pompliano claims that his show is bigger than Fox News and CNN combined.
His MMA podcast is part of the “experience,” and Khalil Rountree has been a previous guest. In the YouTube excerpt that focuses on Bitcoin, Khalil Rountree shares his “Bitcoin awakening,” talking about how his family never had “generational wealth” before BTC.
Rountree is an American mixed martial arts fighter who currently competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Although he admits that he is not a tech or financial savvy person, he is enthusiastic about technology, and he attended the Bitcoin Conference Miami 2022.
Rountree quoted North Korean Chinese defector Yeonmi Park, speaker at Bitcoin Conference Miami 2022, who escaped the regime thanks to Bitcoin and its freedom properties.
YouTube comments on the episode hope that Jack Mallers, the CEO of Strike, appears soon, or failing that, another Bitcoin-maxi, Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter.
For a Bitcoiner on Twitter, Michael Saylor’s appearance at The Joe Rogan Experience would create the same hype as an ETF:
exactly right- @saylor going on the @joerogan podcast is the next big catalyst for increased awareness and adoption of #bitcoin as the most sound money in the world. Or the SEC allows $GBTC to convert to a spot ETF. @GaryGensler @BarrySilbert @Sonnenshein

The “Bitcoin awakening” video has already been viewed more than 100,000 times, while Joe Rogan continues to top the US Spotify podcast charts.
