Today March 8 is the International Women’s Day and some companies have taken the opportunity to send a message to their users, including Sony. Visitors to the PlayStation Store will find a memorial illustration to Women’s Day a few years ago, but is causing controversy for cutting out Kat from Gravity Rush and Sackgirl from Little Big Planet.
Actually, the criticism is not only due to the fact that Kat has been removed from the illustration, because the problem is that they left Kara from Detroit: Become Humanthe latest game Quantic Dreams. A couple of years ago, reports of toxic work environment published by the French press, which prompted Quantic Dreams to sue them only to show that the statements had merit. Among what came to light at the time, fanbyte reported that David Cage even said that in his games “all women are whores” and “we don’t make games for fags”.

Elsewhere on the PlayStation Store the artwork is shown in full, so it’s likely that someone at Sony cut out Kat and Sackgirl for certain displays only. Being the most out of the way characters, these are the easiest to cut, so chances are you didn’t think there were going to be dissatisfied players. However, this is not the first time that Gravity Rush fans have been offended by PlayStation, as they once showed how to delete games from your console using Gravity Rush 2 as an example, as well as shutting down online game servers to a a year and a half after its launch.
The message they shared with the illustration of women’s day refers to the heroines, so one player says: “Kara…a heroine…Did I play the same Detroit: Become Human as whoever did that art?”. A few months ago Quantic Dream announced that it was developing a Star Wars game, but this could take many years to arrive, as the company was having trouble finding staff given its reputation.

Sony has just announced a new State of Play dedicated to PS4 and PlayStation 5 games developed by Japanese studios, so there is little hope of seeing something related to Gravity Rush tomorrow. However, the fans are disappointed that Sony continues to promote David Cage’s workespecially after the reports of harassment and discrimination in his company, in addition to the unpleasant comments made by the president of Quantic Dream.
