According to what was communicated by the head of government, Dr. claudia sheinbaum, this is the first of 29 new trains that will arrive on the line inaugurated in 1969. Unlike the old trains, the seats are distributed on the side, which will allow more standing people. The exhibition is open from 09:00 to 18:00.
For the conclusion of the work, it is expected that there will be new trains, a new control and communications system and a new energy system.
Metro cars represent great improvements for popular transport
Currently, Line 1 of the Metro transports around 500,000 passengers a day, making it one of the busiest, so investment in the security and capacity of users is essential. Other expected benefits are:
- 35% more capacity on trains
- increased ventilation
- One train every 90 seconds
- Reduction of travel time from 50 to 30 minutes
- no delays
The closure of Line 1 will affect users, what are the alternatives?
Although this is an important work that is expected to benefit Metro users in the future, it will also temporarily affect the transfers of thousands of people. So far, the following transfer alternatives are proposed:
- RTP bus service on the same route as Line 1. The schedules will be the same as the Metro and it will have the same cost. There will be confined lanes and no transfer will be charged.
- Trolleybus Line 2 (Chapultepec-Pantitlán) and Metrobús Line 4 (Hidalgo-Pantitlán).
