The adoption of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in Peru continues to increase despite the fall in the market of cryptocurrencies, as shown by data from various sources compiled by Public Accountant Melisa Murialdo and shared with Cointelegraph en Español.

Melisa Murialdo points out that Peru is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of adoption per capita of NFTs by the population, surpassing countries such as the US and Brazil. According to the data, almost 10% of the entire Peruvian population currently owns NFTs. This number also leaves Peru among the countries with the highest adoption of non-fungible tokens in Latin America, behind only Venezuela, Argentina, and Colombia, both of which have over 10% of the population owning NFTs.

In addition, the data compiled by the accountant indicate that the NFT market is predominantly male dominated. In Peru, there is a male-led gap of 3.5 percentage points, which is larger than the global gender gap of 2.7 percentage points.

Another interesting fact is that, in the case of Peru, the new generations are not dominant in the NFT market, since people between 45 and 54 years old are more likely to have NFTs in Peru (15.5%). At the other end of the spectrum, people over the age of 65 (4%) are found to be the least likely to innovate and also the least interested in buying NFTs.

Murialdo also points out, through a Finder survey, among the population that does not have NFTs, about 14.5% of this portion of the population stated that they intend to purchase an NFT in the coming months or years. Thus, in Peru, the percentage of people who own these tokens will increase by 24.4%, a figure higher than the world average.

“Peru is expected to have a great growth in the adoption of NFTs, going from 9.9% to 24.4%, which represents an increase of 14.5 percentage points, positioning itself as the Latin American country with the largest number of NFT owners.”, highlighted Melisa Murialdo.

Melissa adds that Peru is among the top countries in the world in cryptocurrency adoption and among the 5 Latin American countries with the highest adoption of crypto assets. On the other hand, the global adoption of cryptocurrencies has grown by more than 881% in the last year.

Recently, as part of the growth of the cryptocurrency and NFT market in Peru, the Valdé Beauty brand, founded by Peruvian-American Margarita Arriagada, a beauty industry veteran and entrepreneur who served as Sephora’s CMO for more than a decade , announced the launch of The Divine Collection, the debut of the Valdé NFT Collective, an NFT collection that accompanies the brand’s products.

The accountant also highlights that the data shows the potential of the NFT market and the cryptocurrency market, since the graphs point to a growth of this ecosystem and, therefore, together with it, a new range of products and jobs should emerge.
