Episode 8 of the HBO series the house of the dragon It was a sea of emotional moments, including the farewell of Paddy Considine, in the role of Viserys Targaryen. If you are reading this note, it should not be a spoiler that said character dies in the last scene of the chapter, emaciated, in his bed and full of discomfort. But hey, honestly it’s not a death that should surprise us; those who have followed the show since the first episode, sensed that this was the monarch’s destiny, because only then the prequel to Game of Thrones could get into the main part of the conflict.
Either way, saying goodbye to the benevolent Viserys surely won’t stop hurting countless fans, but most of all Considine himself.
Through Instagram, the English actor published a message that in the first instance thanks all his followers who made affectionate comments to him on social networks, as a result of his final appearance in the house of the dragon.
“Thanks for the kind words. I can’t respond to all comments, but I’d like to acknowledge that I haven’t overlooked them. It was an amazing adventure where I made so many new friends that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” Paddy Considine wrote. “I would like to thank the creators for giving me the freedom to make Viserys my own. I’ve never loved a character so much.”
It should be noted that George R.R. Martinauthor of fire & blood and co-creator of the house of the dragon, stated in recent days that Considine created a character “much more powerful, tragic and complete” than the original version of the book, and that only for his final scenes he deserves the Emmy award. Will her wish come true?

On the other hand, in his Instagram message, Paddy Considine also applauded the brief but significant work of his co-star. Sian Brookewho played Viserys’s tragic wife, Aemma Arryn, in the first episode of the house of the dragon. There, her character dies after being subjected to a brutal caesarean section that her own husband authorized.
“I want to give a lot of love and respect to Sian Brooke, who was only there for a few days, but changed the course of my character with her brilliant performance and commitment to the job,” the actor said. “She unlocked the missing piece of the puzzle for me and allowed my story to come full circle. From the moment she dies, so does Viserys.”
In honor of Aemma, the king’s last words on his deathbed were “My love”, which were not in the script and were improvised by Considine.
“It was a love story. That is the secret I carried with me. No matter how sick he was, he himself [Viserys] never demanded any cure. He accepted his suffering in silence, never forgiving himself for making his beloved wife suffer such torture in her last moments.” “Viserys was a gift. I feel so honored that you found me. Now, not anymore.”
With the death of the monarch of the Seven Kingdoms, we will finally enter the most critical part of the conflictive succession, which, as we sadly know, will lead to the devastating civil war known as the Dance with Dragons. We will witness its beginnings in the final two episodes of this first season, which will conclude next Sunday, October 23.

Antonio G. Spindola I have very bad memory. Out of solidarity with my memories, I choose to lose myself too. Preferably in a movie theater.
