A recent study published by the Latinometrics platform indicates that Oxxo’s positioning surpasses even its competing 7-Eleven chains; With almost 21,000 locations in Mexican territory, the brand is only surpassed by Subway, which has 24,154. The difference is that the former is only part of a chain, while the latter are franchises that operate independently.
However, the fact that caused the most curiosity was that there are more Oxxos in Mexico than local Dollar General, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Shell, CVS Pharmacy, 7 Eleven, and Walgreens in the United States.
Oxxo joins the sale of advertising
Oxxo’s new business plan contemplates outdoor advertising visual devices in a thousand stores for the next year, expecting to grow to 7,000 more points in the short term and in the long term to be able to practice in its almost 21,000 points of sale.
According to a statement from the brand, the new screens will be provided by the Icelandic Intouch, which will allow Oxxo to establish advertising agreements with brands and suppliers to advertise the packaged products they sell in their stores.
The chain with a presence in Mexico and Latin America serves close to 13 million consumers a day, so its new plan resumes its impact by diversifying revenue channels and monetizing the sales scope of its units.
However, this step responds to an important trend that other brands have begun to follow since the beginning of 2022, where well-known retailers such as Circle K or WalmartFor example, they are venturing into the marketing and advertising sector with new digital branches.
